Picking a Paint Color<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
In a blue and white bedroom, the paint color can vary greatly. I decided on a color called Cloudy Sky<\/a> by Benjamin Moore after trying out several other blues in the space. White paint colors are another option for a blue and white bedroom. My favorite white paint color, Chantilly Lace, is a perfect canvas for a coastal-inspired space. I searched high and low for paint colors and narrowed it down to a few I wanted to sample then ran to Home Depot and had samples mixed of these five colors. I decided on Benjamin Moore Cloudy Sky<\/a> after swatching them on the wall and observing them for a few days. I honestly was terrified to paint the walls such a bold color since I’ve really stayed very neutral with paint colors in this house but I’m so pleased with the way it turned out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not a lot changed in this space other than removing the grid and then painting the walls and adding some details but so much of decorating is in the details, isn’t it? Some coastal bedroom decorating ideas that I’d suggest are to mix and match your blues. You don’t want every single blue item in the space to be the same shade. You can see below that I mixed some solid navy blue pillows with some more inky blue shibori pillows. I also brought in more blue and white with the artwork on the right.<\/p>\n\n\n

I love mixing blue and white decor with natural wood tones. I added this new bench<\/a> at the foot of the bed. I love the spool legs, don’t you? The natural wood and natural linen-textured cushion are the perfect contrast to the dark blues in the space. It gives the perfect beachy vibes, don’t you agree?<\/p>\n\n\n

<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\nAchieving Cohesion in a Coastal Bedroom<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
In this wider look, I think you can see how cohesive everything works together. The coastal palette is not just blue and white but greenery is mixed in along with some glass, and woven pieces for texture. I also mixed in some new items with old items because I really appreciate a collected over time look to my spaces. <\/p>\n\n\n

<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\nThe nightstands are some pieces that I’m super proud of. We built these nightstands<\/a> ourselves. They are inspired by some Pottery Barn nightstands that I really wanted but could not justify the cost. I’m thrilled with the way they turned out. I think they look spectacular in this blue and white bedroom.<\/p>\n\n\n

<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\nOne thing that had always stumped me about this room was adding art above the headboard. The ceilings are so tall in this room and nothing ever seemed to fit – once I added some height above both nightstands – I felt much better about leaving the space above the headboard bare. <\/p>\n\n\n

<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\nI also ended up removing the drapes from the window because they were just too heavy for the space. I’d love to replace them with some lighter white or maybe striped drapes in the future but for now, I really don’t mind the bright light that pours in.<\/p>\n\n\n

I can’t say enough about buying original art that you love. I’m new to buying original art but having pieces that I absolutely love brings so much joy to me. If you can add a piece of original art to your space, that goes a long way to creating a beautiful space you love. A couple of weeks ago I snagged an original painting from Brynn Casey Art<\/a> and I promptly hung it in here. I think it completes the calm, beachy vibes in this room that I love so much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
