If there’s one thing I know about myself it’s that I’m at my best when I have some sort of structure. For work, it’s keeping a proper calendar and a to-do list that keeps me on task and on schedule. At home, it’s a family calendar, another to-do list, and a cleaning checklist that keeps my home leaning towards tidy. I will never profess to have it all together, most days I don’t but these little things do help. Years ago I shared a cleaning checklist<\/a> that took off on Pinterest. I used it for a long time but I recently revamped it for something that fits a bit better for my life today. This is what works for me now so I’m sharing the new and improved free printable cleaning checklist just in case you are ready for an update as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weekly Cleaning Checklist Free Printable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

My cleaning strategy is to spend about 30-40 minutes cleaning per day and this cleaning checklist helps guide that. It focuses on one area of the home each day with daily tasks like dishes, laundry, and bed making. I always unload my dishwasher first thing in the morning, fill it up throughout the day and then start it before bed. I usually collect laundry after Peighton gets on the bus for school and start the load right away that way I can fold and put it away around lunchtime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selecting a time of day that I’m going to get all of my housework done and keeping it the same throughout the week helps me tremendously in staying on task. I like to work through this checklist first thing in the morning that way it’s done and out of the way and I can move onto my other tasks. Peighton gets on the bus around 8 so I head straight home to make the beds and start the laundry. By this point I’ve already unloaded the dishwasher because I tend to do that task as soon as I come downstairs. Sometimes appointments and other activities pop up and I’m required to push the cleaning checklist towards the middle of the day. I’ve noticed that the longer I wait to get going the less motivated I am to actually get through the list so I try my hardest to get it done first thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can print out a bunch of these and put them on a clipboard or you can just print one and laminate it or slip it into a sheet protector to reuse. I laminated mine and simply use a dry erase marker to cross out each task as I work my way through the checklist. You’ll notice on my checklist I leave Fridays for miscellaneous. I use that fifth day to do anything I may have missed throughout the week or other odd jobs that don’t necessarily need cleaning every single week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
