Not sure if it&#8217;s the crazy hot heat or the fact that I just love wearing sweaters and boots but I&#8217;m ready. For my fall decorations this year I want to bring in some non-traditional colors. I like using blues in my everyday decor, so it kind of just makes sense and everything can transition pretty easily. I&#8217;m also excited about the idea of painted things non-traditional colors. Like leaves.&nbsp;In an afternoon you can make leaves any color you want and it&#8217;s a fun fall craft too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5251\" src=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/painted-leaves.jpg\" alt=\"Painted Leaves are the perfect fall craft to step up your fall decorations this year\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">If you enjoyed my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/fall-garland\/\">fall garland<\/a>, you guys are going to love this super simple fall decorations.<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5249\" src=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/leaves.jpg\" alt=\"Painted Leaves in non-traditional colors is the chicest fall craft to step up your fall decorations this year\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/leaves.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/leaves-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I snagged <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2g8zy9m\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">this bag of faux leaves<\/a>&nbsp;(<em>affiliate link<\/em>) for just a few bucks. There is a variety of sizes and colors (which totally doesn&#8217;t matter since they are all getting painted,&nbsp;anyway). I laid them out on four pieces of cardboard making sure I got a good mix of sizes in each group. Then I went a spray painted each group a different color.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5250\" src=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/painted-fall-leaves.jpg\" alt=\"Painted Leaves in non-traditional colors is the chicest fall craft to step up your fall decorations this year\" width=\"600\" height=\"484\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/painted-fall-leaves.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/painted-fall-leaves-300x242.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">It took me less than 10 minutes to spray them all. You want to do this on a day when it&#8217;s not so windy because the leaves are really light and tend to get picked up easily (clearly, I attempted this on a windy day &#8211; it was a disaster).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5248\" src=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Fall-Leaves.jpg\" alt=\"Painted Leaves in non-traditional colors is the chicest fall craft to step up your fall decorations this year\" width=\"600\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Fall-Leaves.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/Fall-Leaves-300x194.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">After the leaves were all dry I wanted to string them up on&nbsp;large twigs to create large scale fall decorations. To do this I gave each leaf a very small cut (you could use a hole puncher if you have one handy) just to create a little hole to string some raffia through. I tied different lengths of raffia to different leaves and tied and the other end to the twig. No measuring, I just kind of eyeballed it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5252\" src=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/spray-painted-leaves.jpg\" alt=\"Painted Leaves in non-traditional colors is the chicest fall craft to step up your fall decorations this year\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/spray-painted-leaves.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/spray-painted-leaves-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Currently, this is hanging above my chalkboard.
