While they are awfully similar and often used interchangeably there are in fact some key differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vaulted Ceiling vs Cathedral Ceiling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I have already done a post on the differences between these two and you can check it out here <a href=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/cathedral-ceilings-vs-vaulted-ceilings\/\">vaulted ceilings vs. cathedral ceilings<\/a>. Here I will just give you the key differences so you can get a basic understanding before checking out the rest of this post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the simplest sense, vaulted and cathedral ceilings both imply height. However, there&#8217;s a subtle yet important distinction between the two. Vaulted ceilings, do not necessarily follow the roof&#8217;s pitch and can have arched, domed, or even flat appearances. They&#8217;re versatile and can be incorporated into various room shapes and sizes to elevate the overall appearance of the space. On the other hand, cathedral ceilings mirror the exact pitch of the roof, creating a symmetrical, triangular peak in the space. These ceilings are typically found in spaces designed to be awe-inspiring and are ideal for creating an open, spacious environment. Now, when it comes to lighting, each ceiling type requires a different approach. In this living room the designer did something totally unique and certainly something I haven&#8217;t seen before. They installed 8 lights on the side of the ceiling pitch. There is no doubt that this room is not lacking light. Imagine a cascade of tiny, twinkling lights draped across the length of your high ceiling &#8211; it&#8217;s simply magical! This isn&#8217;t just lighting; it&#8217;s a design statement that adds a touch of charm and warmth to your space. This design is effective both aesthetically and functionally, string lights can fill large areas with a soft, ambient glow, perfect for creating a cozy living room atmosphere (which is everyone&#8217;s goal, right?). Plus, string lights offer the flexibility of being arranged in a variety of ways, allowing you to get creative. The hardest part about low hanging lights is that they can sometimes block sight lines in your home so when hanging your fixtures consider this to determine how high you should hang your fixture.
