It&#8217;s actually fairly warm and could even be placed in the greige paint color family. Greige is a blend between gray and beige. It&#8217;s an earthy paint color that has a natural feel. Greige colors peaked in the mid-2010s but they&#8217;re creeping back and Worldly Gray in the front of the pack. Sherwin Williams describes it as a &#8220;warm gray that breathes life into any room.&#8221; At first glance, it&#8217;s evident why this color is a favorite among the neutrals. It has such depth and dimension and it goes beautifully with a variety of color palettes. Worldly Gray is a part of both Top 50 Colors and the Top Interior Colors Collections for Sherwin Williams. The fact that Worldly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/blue-gray-paint-colors\/\">Gray stands out in such a crowded field of gray paint colors<\/a> says a lot. We love Worldly Gray as both an interior and exterior shade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Light or Dark is Worldly Gray?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s start by taking a look at the value of SW Worldly Gray. All paint colors have an LRV or a &#8220;light reflectance value&#8221; that provides us with some information on how dark the paint color might appear on the wall. Often times it&#8217;s very difficult to tell from a paint card, or even a swatch on the wall, how light or dark a paint will appear. Using the LRV tool, we can get a decent sense of the color&#8217;s depth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is Worldly Gray&#8217;s LRV?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The LRV (light reflectance value) of Worldly Gray is 57.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What does that mean? The LRV scale is from 0-100 with 0 being the absolute darkest black an 100 being the whitest white. The more reflective the color, the lighter it appears. We&#8217;ll get to what those are for Worldly Gray in just a moment but it&#8217;s important to note that undertones are what gives a paint color it&#8217;s warmth or coolness. Gray paint colors, especially, can feel warm or cool &#8211; Worldly Gray is decidedly warm. It has warm undertones and because of these warm undertones, the color can be a little bit of a changer going between gray, greige, and a tiny bit beige in some spaces. The warmth of the color depends heavily on the undertones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Undertones Does Worldly Gray Have?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>About those undertones, Worldly Gray&#8217;s undertones are generally really neutral which is why I think this is a heavily favored paint color. If anything, Worldly Gray may have slightly green undertones that keep it from appearing too purple. Overall, you&#8217;re going to see a beautiful beige-y gray paint color once this one is on the wall.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I always recommend you stick paint samples on the wall and see for yourself, in your own room, and lighting if you want to truly get an idea of undertones.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Trim Color Looks Best With Sherwin Williams Wordly Gray?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A bright white contrast is a great option as it will really pop against the wall color. I recommend two colors as &#8220;perfect trim colors,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/benjamin-moore-chantilly-lace\/\">Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace<\/a> or Sherwin Williams Pure White. Pure White is going to give you the most contrast. Chantilly Lace is on the warmer side so may feel a touch creamy but it&#8217;s still a nice white trim color that pairs beautifully with greige paint colors such as Worldly Gray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You could also flip the script and use Worldly Gray as a trim color with white walls for some visual interest and contrast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is Worldly Gray A Good All Over Paint Color?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In a word, yes. If you want one paint color for all of your main spaces, Worldly Gray is a great warm gray paint color that can be reliably used in a neutral color palette as well as one that mixes in bolder colors. SW Worldly Gray works well in various spaces including dining rooms, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/small-living-spaces\/\">living spaces<\/a>, kitchens, bathrooms, and even bedrooms. How does it look in a bathroom? Is it a good color for a kitchen? It&#8217;s warm, cozy, and super inviting. If you have warm elements like warm gray, taupe, or tan elements then Worldly Gray will complement them perfectly &#8211; like we see above. A lot less beige and more gray here, don&#8217;t you think? Keep in mind that more natural light, the more washed out the paint color will appear on the walls so it will appear lighter on the walls. This space is fun and unexpected because the walls are white and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.makinghomebase.com\/white-walls-gray-trim\/\">trim is gray<\/a>.
