I’m so excited to share the finished product of the guest bathroom makeover we’ve been working on!\u00a0About six weeks ago, I shared my adventure to Chicago<\/a> with Delta\u00ae Faucet<\/a>. Once I got home, with my mind bursting with design inspiration, we started working on the bathroom right away. One element I was sure to bring into the space was the feel of being near the water – that was one of my major takeaways from the Chicago trip.<\/p>\n

Let’s take a quick look at the bathroom before.<\/p>\n

It really wasn’t awful. I had given this bathroom a\u00a0quick update<\/a> not too long ago where we added some board and batten<\/a> and painted the walls. We never touched the shower and that was the one thing in the bathroom that needed the most attention so it was time to tackle the tub\/shower. You can see at the bottom there where we pulled off a piece of the tile to see what we were getting ourselves into.<\/p>\n

Some of the challenges we face in this bathroom are the awkward layout. It’s a Jack and Jill style with two doors – but is very narrow. It also lacks windows so zero natural light. Since there is no natural light, the coral tiles in the bath surround make the space feel even darker. We also had a very outdated faucet and shower head.<\/p>\n

The plan for the bathroom was to rip out the surrounding tile, faucet and shower head, preserve the tub itself, and re-tile the tub surrounding with white subway tile. We also wanted to replace the faucet and shower head with something much more classic.\u00a0\"\"Matt had fun demo-ing this space. Once we ripped out all of the tile – we replaced the old wall board with hardie board, sealed up any gaps, and then added white subway tile for a more timeless look.

The difference is huge. The white subway tile brightens up the entire room and I love the contrast with the gray grout.<\/p>\n

When looking to continue that more timeless feel in the fixture, we added the Delta Cassidy\u2122 Temp2<\/sub>O\u00ae<\/sup> Tub and Shower Trim. I selected this faucet not only because of its aesthetic but also its function. The single lever handle is much easier for my daughter to use. Also, with theTemp2<\/sub>O\u00ae<\/sup> Technology, I don’t have to worry about the water suddenly getting too hot while bathing my kids.<\/p>\n

Another thing that lightened up the space was a bright white and navy shower curtain.\u00a0Some details were directly inspired by my Chicago trip, like using sisal rope to hang the shower curtain instead of traditional hooks.<\/p>\n

Also, I used marine dock cleats<\/a> as towel hooks.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The natural tones mixed with the white and the blue wall color plays on the coastal water elements that I loved so much when creating my mood board.<\/p>\n

It was also important for me to add in some personal elements like these beach prints from various family vacations that I framed in these natural wood-looking frames<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I am absolutely smitten with the transformation of this space. It finally feels complete with the tub and shower makeover. The timelessness of the look is my favorite part – the white subway tile combined with the Chrome Cassidy\u2122 faucet and shower head<\/a> feel sophisticated yet livable. I love it so much – it’s a shame it’s in the guest bath instead of the master! I am still toying with the idea of painting the vanity or replacing it altogether but for now, this space is more than I could have imagined.<\/p>\n
